Hiya,
My name is Wilma, I was born in 1977, got married to Dave in 2002.
I was diagnosed with MS in 2005.
My mum also has MS so I believe the Neuros all thought it was MS which
was affecting me too. And they were right!!!
I had just started first year at university studying Nursing when I was
diagnosed. My tutors all thought I should quit......really strange
in my opinion (well they are all nurses who should know better.lol)
I am now a registered nurse and I wish I could be free of the fatigue
and balance problems which MS presents me with. It is not funny to
be accused of being drunk when you haven't had a single drink.
I started taking Copaxone in 2006. I took it for 14 months and
then was changed to Betaferon as I was still having lots of relapses.
8 weeks of Betaferon convinced me, my husband, the MS Nurses and my
Consultant that it wasn't working very well for me as I still had
another relapse while on it. I now get Tysabri......once a month I
go to London and have my infusion on a ward there. I have been on
Tysabri now for 15 months and I will hopefully be on it till they cure
MS!!!
Apart from going online, gossiping on email, looking after my animals
(cats, dog, squirrel, hedgehogs and birds) I do not do an awful
lot.....oh yes.....sleep is the thing which takes up most of my
day.....when the animals give me peace anyways.lol.
Once a month I meet up with our the MS Friends Group for a lunch and a
chat. I have met some lovely people there and I enjoy socialising
with others who fully understand all about MS, and can have a good laugh
about all our mis-haps etc.
